June E. Burdick, 76, of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away Saturday, September 24th at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 3, 1935 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Lawrence (Bud) and Ruby (Cherry) Kaufman. She grew up west of Coffeyville and attended Robbins School then Field Kindly High School.
On July 10, 1953, she married Charles Burdick at Cedar Bluff Camp in Coffeyville, Kansas. They made their home in rural Coffeyville. Mr. Burdick preceded her in death March 11, 1993.
Mrs. Burdick was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville, Kansas. She enjoyed sewing and crafts, and her grand- and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Burdick worked at Hertwick Electric and retired from Caney Hospital.
Survivors include son, Tim Burdick and daughter, Cindy (Battaglear) Laney, sisters Joy Wittner and Carolyn Pope, all of Coffeyville; Ruth Griffin, sister, of Ozark, MO and sister-in-law Barbara Kaufman of Holden, MO. Grandchildren surviving include Charles Corey Battaglear and wife, Carrie Grant, Ashley Nash and husband, Derrick Nash, and Dylan Laney, all of Coffeyville. Great-grandchildren are Nolan Nash, Aubrey and Sophie Battaglear and baby Nash on the way. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Clark Kaufman, and three sisters: Genievie Dixon, Dorothy Nowadzy and Fern Henton.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Interment will follow in Robbins Cemetery, west of Coffeyville, under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory. Family suggests memorials to the Arthritis Foundation and may be left at the funeral home. Visitation will be Wednesday, 9am-8pm at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 6-8pm.
